Meet Tila.
DIY & Design Dork
Tila grew up dreaming up new products, ways of doing things, and re-arranging her furniture for fun to improve space and function.
Her quest for change along with her independent nature led her to a career in trades entrepreneurship, where she spent over a decade of her career building a brand from the ground up into a word-of-mouth referral machine. In that brand (Pretty In Paint), she now focuses on providing education and building community for any girls looking to enter or thrive in the trade.
While she always had a desire to create beautiful spaces that were also functional for everyday life, she severely lacked the skills of how to accomplish these goals for many years.
During her paint years, she started to piece together how design worked alongside her trade.
In 2016 she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (and arthritis), just a few years after an accident in which she crushed a vertebrae in her spine.
The Dr. would tell her that the keys to managing her continual pain would be to ensure adequate and consistent rest and reduce stress.
She leaned into the effects that a living environment can have on these factors and began transforming her own home into a place that relaxes and recharges as well as inspires.
She began taking on design projects for others shortly after. Which turned into a full-blown renovation company shortly after that. Which turned out to be not so good for her stress levels - ha!
Now she focuses on spreading the knowledge she gained from her experience in the home improvement industry, with a passion for helping design & diy dorks like herself elevate their homes as well as their lifestyles.
